Midnight Sun - Stephenie Meyer ⭐⭐

At last, readers can experience Edward's version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun.

Review: (Takes a deep breath) Let's start of with the fact that this book is basically Twilight (the first book) rewritten. Most dialogues between Bella and Edward overlap which is quite disappointing. There are so many spelling and grammatical errors it's comical.

Right off the bat, it is clear that Meyer does not effectively write from a male perspective because Edward talks and thinks like Bella throughout the whole book. Another thing is that even though Edward has been around for over a century, the way he is presented to us does not reflect the wisdom and experience one would expect someone of that age to have. For over 600 pages, his character is reduced to complaining and not having the mental fortitude to make a decision in one way or the other.

I was initially excited to be reading another twilight book but I was left feeling extremely disappointed. I was hoping for a more in-depth insight into Edward and his family but got the entire Twilight book, rephrased.

It could be that my expectations were too high but I was expecting a lot more from this book. I'd still recommend it to any Twilight fans but I've waited super long to read it and this just didn't live up to the hype for me.

Long story short, this book did not add anything of value to the story the readers already know. So, if you do wanna read the first book again with a few (very few) variations, then by all means go ahead.

Until next time!
